Becoming A Resonant Leader

Pete,

This class has pushed the limits of your comfort level for self disclosure and introspection, You earned a few bruises along the way, but all things considered you emerged a better person as a result of and despite your periods of discomfort.

After enduring significant anxiety and stress, you finally committed to your vision in writing.  Your vision is of you on a beautiful piece of property, your property.  The house you built is small, but welcoming.  It is partially hidden by the land that also serves as its foundation.  It is exactly as you have pictured all these years and it is beautiful.

You have officially retired, but still work hard each day.  If not on one your projects, you can be found helping a neighbor on one of his.  You were right, keeping active and taking care of things around the property, has kept you healthy.  Your family is why you want to maintain your health, especially your grandchildren. People are still important in your life and you still volunteer to help wherever you can.  Your goal to share your experiences in leadership and military service with  students is almost approved.  However it looks like you will have to get your credentials and be'hired' on as a substitute teacher to talk to the students on a regular basis.  Your goal of learning to play the drums has led you to taking drum lessons.  Becoming an active and accepted member of in the community is a slow process.  You will have to prove yourself true and dedicated to your community.  You set a few goals as just mentioned and you are making progress on each.  The summary of each is listed below.

Do it yourself projects-building the house - Chuck (brother) is crucial support with a few friends to help.  There are many milestones in a project this size.  

Milestone - foundation complete, house dried in   (Many more milestones not listed)
Required actions -ground breaking, grading, foundation survey and layout, plumbing and electrical stub-in, concrete poured
required actions - framing, sheathing, shingles 

Learn to play drums-get lessons
actions - purchase set to practice, enroll, practice, assess, 

School mentor key support from school board,  county officials, community leaders, parents
When decision is made to be credentialed.  actions include determine process, take required course(s), take licensing test, schedule first meeting with senior class.

Accepted and active community member,  continue doing the things you do  and exercise patience

Your planning style is action oriented meaning you are more concerned about the here ad now over long term planning. The plans you make are generally a series of tasks or activities based on your logic.  The next plan will be decided by the outcome of the current plan (McKee, et al., 2008).

Your plan is in motion.  You need to be patient.  There is no hurry.  As things come your way get help from Chuck, if needed.  If you do not need any help, take care of it.  Do not procrastinate.  Otherwise, you will get behind and catching up is extremely difficult.  Enjoy bringing your vision to life.  Make the most of every moment.
